Korean Parade

Annual Korean Parade is held in the fall marching down on Broadway from 40th Street down to 24th Street. Each year featurs various Korean cultural and non-cultural groups. This year's poongmul participants include:
SUNY Buffalo, U. Syracuse, SUNY Stony Brook, SUNY Binghamton, Long Island Catholic Church, Queens Catholic Church, HanOol, 149PP, Han Noo Ri.

"CAMP MUJIGAE is a Korean cultural education camp for Korean Adoptees. This year's Camp Mujigae marks its 20th event and it has developed tremendously over the years, garnering attentions not just from other people in the Northeastern area but also from young people in Korea.
KCON has been involved in this meaningful event since 2002 and this year, some committed poongmulians are coming to show and teach our sound, Poongmul.
After two and a half day with classes (Thurs-Friday), on Saturday (afternoon), we have the FAMILY DAY where everyone comes to celebrate our annual event before we say good-bye until the next time. And poongmul performance has always been great on this day".

Culture classes including instruments will be held on 6/29 and 6/30. Family day will be held on Saturday.

Poongmul Camp is back in the East. This is the event where all day, and all things Poongmul lives on.
We'll have various Poongmul sessions according skill levels during the camp including SulJangGoo rhythms.
We are planning to add TaePyungSo, SangMo and JaBan sessions. That's more than 12 divisions of classes.

Nori Company @ South Carolina
Nori Company is a dance and percussion ensemble that aims at enhancing the festive traditions of Korea. By developing a choreographed refined art form of Samul-Nori, which is a modern chamber adaptation from Poongmul-Nori, the Nori Company intends to preserve the Nori dance and music traditions while making them accessible and enjoyable to all. The Nori ensemble includes artists from a variety of cultural backgrounds.

Syracuse University's Poongmul Pae 'Cheon Ji In' is having their 4rth annual performance. The performance would be based on traditional drumming pieces (such as yung nam, ut da ri etc.) and for this performance, cheon ji in specially prepared several fusion pieces so the audience could accept and enjoy poongmul in various and interesting ways. Jishinbalpgi ("Stepping on the Spirit of the Earth") is a Korean folk ritual celebrating the beginning of the Lunar New Year (usually within the first 15 days of the first lunar month). This ritual of drummers, costumed dancers, flag bearers, and the community cleanses the village and chases away bad spirits, and at the same time, ushers in peace and blessings for the new year, renews personal ties, and fosters a greater sense of community. 
Join us at one or all five ritual processions throughout the Philadelphia area!
